Investigation

So, are the'clients' going to be evaluated by a licenced phsycologist ?

And why do they need to prove emotional abuse ? Aren't Refuge rules themselves abusive enough and contrary to officially accepted professional opinion on homosexuality AND behaviour modification programs .

LIA doesn't advertise their rules and regulations.  The only way we even have access to it is because of Zach posting it in his blog.  And he wasn't even supposed to have it.  So they have to prove that abuse exists.  You have to prove everything beyond a reasonable doubt in this country.  Besides that, just because they are being investigated doesn't mean that they will find anything at first.  LIA unfortunately have a lot of power.

I'm sort of out of the loop, so bear with me if you've already read these, but LIA is under investigation.

Love in Action Media Update

The Associated Press has picked up the story:

(Memphis, Tennessee) Tennessee is investigating an abuse complaint against a therapy group in Memphis that claims to turn gay teens into heterosexuals.

The Department of Children’s Services says it received a complaint about Love in Action, which runs an outpatient therapy program. The complaint was screened and enough substance was found to open an investigation, state officials said.

Judging by the volume of stories from various sources on Google News I’d say the story has legs. Great work, bloggers. John Smid from Love in Action is directly attributing the investigation to the internet campaign that you have waged.

grr, library computer doesn't copy paste well...

I myself can't wait to hear what their findings are.

Me too. It could make or break our case, though. If they decide all is fine and well in LIA (though I don't know HOW) it would make proceeding more difficult.
