< I must say that in some cases, the parents get more out of the program than the kids do!>
Of course they do .IMO the teen program is all about the parents and their self-image and their image in the community . And if it doesn't work for their kid , they can wash their hands and say they've done everything they could .
I was thinking , do the parents even know what the 'treatment' consists of , since they're not to discuss it at home ? Are they aware of the possible side effects ? Do they care? Did they do any research at all and if they did , how can they persist with this program ? Or do they trust every quack who sells 'magic cure' with their child ? I can't understand it .
>I sure wish you could understand the flavor of what we do and the level of respect and care with which we do it. But due to confidentiality issues, we cannot allow outsiders into the group.<
Yes please let us understand . You don't need to allow outsiders into the group , just explain publicaly what exactly the 'treatment is , what results can one expect from it ,what are it's effects and side effects and tell us whether your 'clients' are informed of all this before they enter the program .

>I can say that for the most part, there is not that much discussion about homosexuality and especially coercive discussion. There are program peers who share the negative consequences of homosexuality from their own experiences, but we do not allow "teaching or preaching" in dialogue or group peer discussions. Teaching and preaching is dialogue where one person is attempting to manipulate someone else into their perspective. WE share our feelings, relate our experiences, the outcome of this kind of dialogue is for the individual to decide.<
And this is it ? This is suppoesd to 'cure' homosexuallity ? For 4500$ ?
I managed to post your response to myspace, before it threw me out. Smid just doesn't understand the perception of his own program. He honestly believes that this will "fix" people. I didn't see any problems within Zach (I don't even count his homosexuality as a problem anyways.) He seemed very assured of himself via his posts and someone who doesn't need any type of treatment!
Thanks. For some reason, I don't think Smid is going to listen. He's set in his beliefs. But perhaps things like postcard floods may make him acquiese and reveal information, so we'll get off his back. He must be hiding something if he's not willing to even give out the rules to people going through the program.
So now we have a huge list of very valid questions on FZ group. What about putting them in an open letter in a newspaper ? What happened to the idea of an open letter ?

You got me. I pushed it until I went insane (really). I don't want to be the one writing everything though. http://fzpressrelease.pbwiki.com (pass: asdf ) for anyone who wants to start on it.
and postcards..... Bob says to keep postcards with you at all times which is a great idea. Also, if anyone can scan them, in order to ensure Zach does see them later, we could have a site that collects all the cards.
That is awesome. If anyone wants to use my interpretations of Jewish law (as that is what they are attempting to use to justify hate ) from end the hate, you're definitely welcome to do so in writing to these institutions.
The one that MAY listen is this Messianic Jewish organization [Brit Hadashah], the one listed in support of LIA, because if they aren't just trying to convert Jews (as most MJ organizations are), then they would have respect for Torah and see the errors of their ways.
